State housing tax credits to create affordable rent
AUSTIN – Gov. Greg Abbott today announced that the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) has awarded $87.7 million in housing tax credits to help finance the development or rehabilitation of 54 rental properties offering reduced rents and increased housing options for Texans throughout the state.

Medicaid fraud unit probe leads to arrests, seized assets
AUSTIN – The Office of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) has arrested Lily Tran Daniel, Kenneth Reynolds, and Lillian Thai, who are associated with the genetic testing company ApolloMDx, for their involvement in a major healthcare fraud scheme to fraudulently bill Medicare approximately $142 million.

What’s Up in August Kendall County Skies
I started out my July article with the following: “Well, we’ve certainly had awful skies this entire spring, awful for astronomy that is. I love it when it rains and we had a lot of rain in April, May, and early June. However, that has meant very few nights of clear skies.”
