Rotarians support Blessings in a Backpack Program
The Rotary Club of Boerne ( Noontime) is one of three Rotary Clubs that support Blessings in a Backpack, a nonprofit organization. For ten years this organization has been providing weekend food packages consisting of two breakfasts, two lunches and several snacks to children living in poverty who are enrolled in the Federal Meal Program. This year Blessings saw an increase of 25% in the number of requests for assistance. With a yearly budget of $180,000 they provide an average of 575 food packages to students in all 13 Boerne schools. Blessings in a Backpack is part of a national organization that is a 501c3 with an oversight Board of Directors and this local chapter is fully run by volunteers and has no overhead expenses. 05/24/2023 12:00 AM
