A 37-year-old Comfort resident, Joseph Allen Nezat Jr., was sentenced to 29 years in state prison Tuesday afternoon for distributing what the judge called the nation’s true pandemic: methamphetamine.

The countywide transportation committee has begun outlining the next six months of work as it nears its projected June completion date.

A 20-year-old Louisiana resident, Tyreion Arceneaux, was extradited to Lafayette, Louisiana, from the Kendall County Jail last week for several warrants out of the state, including an attempted murder charge.

The cities of Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch have uncontested city council seat races so far but filing for a place on the ballot will run through Feb. 18.

The Boerne Independent School District announced Boerne’s Best Distinguished Alumni Class of 2022 inductees. This year’s honorees are Michelle Beadle (BHS ’94), Joseph A. Bergmann (BHS ‘63), Rachel Seewald (BHS ’88) and Robert “Rob” Bradley (BHS ’80) with the Benefactor Award being presented to Carol Mathews.

Less than a week remains before the Jan. 31 deadline to register to vote in the March 1 primary.
