Douglas William Sutton

Douglas William Sutton

Douglas William Sutton, known to friends and loved ones as Doug, passed away peacefully at his home in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, on Sept. 11, 2025, just two days shy of his 64th birthday.

Born on Sept. 13, 1961, in New Castle, Indiana, Doug was the beloved son of Lady Ann Sutton and the late Clyde E. Sutton. He graduated from Troy University, Alabama, in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Systems. Doug went on to serve with honor for four years in the U.S. Air Force, earning the rank of Captain.

In 1990, Doug married Katherine “Kathy” Sutton, the love of his life. Together, they built a family and shared over 35 joyful years. Doug was a devoted father to Justin Lee Young, Andrew Jared Sutton, and Sean Cameron Sutton, and a cherished grandfather of August and Crosby. He is also survived by his sister, Cindi Cross, and brother, Steven Sutton, and other close relatives. Doug’s professional journey led him to a fulfilling 25-year career at Source Strategies, as a Senior Vice President. He retired in 2023, eager to enjoy more time pursuing the things he loved.

Doug’s sharp wit, generosity and willingness to help others were hallmarks of his character. He was an avid reader, Cornhuskers fan, a woodworker, flint knapper, softball player and hunter.

Doug found deep joy and peace at his ranch, where he mentored youth in safe hunting and opened his land to many, including disabled veterans. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at his home later. His family is grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers from across the country. Doug always said, he felt closest to God when he was out in nature at the ranch — a spirit that lives on in every life he touched.
