Geneva baseball team knocks out

hits against Guardians

Geneva School of Boerne hosted Schertz John Paul II last Friday for a district baseball game and picked up a run-rule win over the Guardians in six innings, 11-1.

The Eagles are 4-2 and visited Holy Cross Monday and are scheduled to play Schertz JP II again this Friday.

Geneva scored 7 of its 11 runs last Friday during its first at bat. After the Guardians plated a run in the top of the first inning for their only one of the game, the Eagles answered in a big way.

Geneva used a triple, 3 doubles, 3 singles and a hit batter to tally its 7 runs. In the bottom of the second, the Eagles pushed in another run and held an 8-1 lead.

The Eagles closed it out with 2 runs in the fifth and then tacked on a run in the sixth that ended it at 11-1.

Geneva knocked out 14 hits, including a triple and 5 doubles, while not committing an error on defense.

Gray Bruner tripled, doubled and singled, drove in 2 runs and scored twice, Brady Chandler doubled and hit 2 singles, picked up an RBI and scored once, Chase Doran doubled, added 2 singles, scored 2 runs and had an RBI and Colton Lutz doubled, scored and had an RBI.

Jake Roberson doubled and singled, took 2 walks, scored 2 runs and pushed in a run, Rooster Jons singled, picked up an RBI and scored a run, Bryce Hanover walked and scored and Harris Priesmeyer singled, walked, collected an RBI and scored once.

Hanover went 5 innings on the bump and picked up the win on 73 pitches. He gave up 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 earned run and struck out 4.

Doran pitched in the sixth frame and didn’t give up a hit, run or walk and fanned 1.
