Comfort High sent several athletes to the recent 3A Area track and field meet in Wall and advanced a few to regionals set for last weekend in Abilene.
At Area, the Comfort boys scored 24 points to tie for 6th and the girls were 3rd with 50 points.
RESULTS (Top 6 score points and top 4 advanced to regionals)
Varsity Girls
Victoria Kessova and Ashley Padilla finished 3rd and 4th in the 400 after Kessova clocked in at 1:00.89 and Padilla turned in a 1:01.19 for a combined 10 points.
Molly Gowan placed 3rd in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.86 for 6 team points, while Gowan also came in 4th in the 300 hurdles after posting a 50.59 and Hope Van Geffen was 5th at 51.85 to pick up 6 more points.
Comfort’s 4x400 advanced to regionals after they were 2nd at Area when Hope Van Geffen, Ashley Padilla, Jordan Judkins and Victoria Kessova turned in a time of 4:12.34 for 16 points, while in the 4x100, Molly Gowan, Alexis Ramirez, Ashley Padilla and Kessova finished 5th at 51.43 for 4 points.
Gowan also earned 8 points in field events after she came in 2nd by clearing 5-2.
Varsity Boys
Jaydin Stewart finished 5th in the 100 with a time of 11.21 for 2 points, Carter Pape came in 6th in the 400 after posting a 52.94 for 6th and another point, Hunter Lackey placed 6th in the 800 at 2:09.79 for a point, Jackson Dear picked up a point in the 1600 after he was 6th in the 1600 after clocking in at 5:03, while Lucas Ledlow finished 5th in the 100 hurdles when he finished in a time of 17.07 for 2 points.
Topper Sterling, Carter Pape, Chance Carpenter and Jaydin Steward combined for 6th in the 4x100 with a time of 44.17 for 2 points, while the 4x400 relay of Carpenter, Steward, Hunter Lackey and Pape teamed up for 4th with a time of 3:31.44 for 8 points.
In field events, Aiden Weyel finished 4th in the shot put with a toss of 46-04.50, Eli Wolverton pole vaulted 10-0 for 6th and another point, while Carter Pape placed 5th in the long jump with a leap of 21-02.50 for 2 points.
