Several boys basketball players from Boerne ISD were named to the 26-5A All-District squad as voted upon by the league coaches.
A total of eight Chargers and Greyhounds (5 for Champion, 3 for BHS) made it and one of them received a superlative award after Champion freshman Gavin Peck was named the 26-5A Newcomer.
There were no first-team selections for either the Chargers or Greyhounds, but three made the second team.
Boerne High sophomore Hank Hendrix was a second- team pick, while Charger seniors Baeden Burdick and Logan Scott were both named to the second team as well.
Two Greyhounds and two Chargers were selected honorable mention as well. BHS seniors Casen Hoegemeyer and Nic Hernandez, along with Charger seniors Kristian Herrera and Alex Ross were all named honorable mention.
Champion and Boerne both finished 5-11 in district play and tied for sixth. The Chargers ended the year at 22-13 and BHS was 18-14.
Neither BISD team advanced to the playoffs this past season, but it marked the first time they were in the same district and had played against each other after 16 years of co-existing.
Each team won the games on their home court and both contests drew large crowds.
