Geneva’s Chandler wins three events at district track and field meet

Geneva School of Boerne recently competed at its district track and field meet and had one athlete – Brady Chandler – capture first place in three events.

Chandler won the pole vault, long jump and the 100meter dash to help the boys team finish 5th at the event with 64 points.

The Lady Eagles were 9th with 24.50 points. The TAPPS regional track meet was held this week in Seguin. For results of regionals, see the Star.

In TAPPS, the top 8 finishers in a track and field meet earn points. (1st = 10 points, 2nd = 8, 3rd = 6, 4th = 5, 5th = 4, 6th = 3, 7th = 2 and 8th = 1 point.)

Varsity Boys

In the pole vault, Chandler cleared 14-6 for 1st, went 19-8 in the long jump for 1st and clocked in at 11.24 in the 100 dash for 1st place and earned 30 of their 64 points in those three events.

Griffin Miller finished 5th in the discus with a throw of 119-6 and Mikhail Boespflug tossed the discus 113-4 for 7th to earn 7 combined team points.

Boespflug also picked up points in the shot put with a heave of 36-0 for 5th and 4 points, while Miller was 6th at 35-4 for 3 more points.

Walter Teague came in 4th in the high jump after he cleared 5-4 for 5 points and Sam Horton was 8th at 5-2 for another point.

Sam Crews posted an 11.51.20 for 7th in the 3200 and 2 points, Sam Siller also came in 7th in the 1600 with a time of 4:57.40 for 2 more points and Shae McNew also came in 7th in the 400 with a time of 54.67 for 2 points.

Geneva also earned 8 points in the 4x200 relay after Reid Wilson, Reid Aderholt, Sam Horton and Noah Brunsvold came in 5th with a time of 1:40.01.

Varsity Girls

In the shot put, Madeline Egbert finished 6th with a throw of 28-4.5 and Maegan Riebel placed 7th at 28-1.50 for a combined 5 points, while Egbert tied for 6th in the discus with a throw of 78-9 for 2.5 points.

Annabelle Halbach placed 2nd in the high jump after she cleared 4-4 for 8 points and Maebry Caulfield came in 4th in the triple jump at 32-1 for 5 points.

Halbach also picked up 4 points for fifth place in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:05.82.
