THE BOOKWORM
No regular Youth Dept. programming in May Like many of you, we’re eagerly looking forward to the joys of summer — sunshine, adventures and, of course, an exciting season at the library.
But before we dive into the colorful fun, we need a bit of time to prep and plan. That’s why, during the month of May, we’ll be pausing our regularly scheduled weekly programs in the Youth Department.
This brief break allows us to gear up for a fantastic summer lineup we know you’ll love.
Summertime ‘Sneak Peek’
Get ready to “Color Our World” — our vibrant summer theme that’s bursting with creativity, connection and curiosity Each week we will offer a variety of storytimes tailored to different age groups, so there’s something for every young reader to enjoy.
Additionally, we’re thrilled to welcome back the Happy Tails Mobile Petting Zoo. Each week, join us on the back lawn to meet a new furry friend in all the shades of the rainbow. It’s a hands-on experience the whole family will adore.
For our budding chefs, we’re cooking up something special. Little foodies in elementary school can join us weekly to whip up delicious, hands-on creations — fun to make and even more fun to munch.
And for our mini-Picassos, we’re launching a brandnew crafting program where kids and their grown-ups can create together. These bright bonding moments will leave lasting memories and masterpieces to match.
This is just a taste of what’s coming — stay tuned for a full summer schedule packed with wonder, whimsy and wow-worthy moments!
StoryWalk
Spring has sprung and there’s no better time to head outdoors and enjoy the beauty of Boerne.
While you’re out exploring, take a stroll along the Old No. 9 Trail and discover our very first bilingual StoryWalk, located just a short stroll from the library.
The featured story, “Alicia’s Walk” by Constance Andrea Keremes, is a heartwarming tale brought to life with charming illustrations and a bilingual translation by Alicia Carrillo of Maker’s Place.
Special thanks to our wonderful team member, Erica Metz, for providing translation support. The StoryWalk will be available throughout May, so grab your walking shoes, bring a friend, and enjoy a story together.
Musical instruments available for check-out
Some may not know that the library provides a selection of instruments that are available for checkout. Come by the Youth Department today to see the wonderful array of instruments we offer. Try one out and discover if it is the right fit for you or your child.
Instruments and music lessons are an expensive investment, but instrument check-out at the library is freely available for library card holders.
Before spending money on instruments or lessons, check out the fabulous collection of instruments we offer to see if one truly interests your child. The library carries multiple guitars and ukeleles, a harp, a xylophone or Glockenspiel, an electronic keyboard and a snare drum.
What’s more, when you check out a guitar or ukelele from the library, Heart’s Home Acoustic offers one free 10-minute tutorial. Come by today to check out our lovely instruments and see which ones strike your fancy!
For more, visit our website at Boernelibrary.org; call the library at 830-249-3053; or come by PHPL, 451 N. Main St., to speak with a staff member.
We can’t wait to see you at the library!
