After a loss to open district play last week, the Geneva School of Boerne bounced back in a big way as the Eagles defeated Corpus Christi John Paul II Friday night at home.
Geneva rolled to a 56-7 victory and improved to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in district. The Eagles are off this coming Friday and host Bay Area Christian on Oct. 9.
Friday’s contest got away from the visiting Centurions early as Geneva jumped out to a 35-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and took a 48-0 lead into the halftime break.
Eagles coach Adam Foren removed his starters by halftime as both teams tallied one touchdown in the second half.
Shae McNew finished with three rushing touchdowns, while Asher Shindler added a running touchdown and Reid Aderholt, Luke Abuzeid and Walter Teague all caught touchdown passes.
Eagles QB Caleb Quitadamo tossed two touchdown passes and Levi Egbert added a touchdown in the game.
The Geneva defense also put points on the board after Sam Horton picked off a Centurions pass and returned it for a score.
After being off this week, Geneva hosts Bay Area Christian (10-9), visits New Braunfels Christian Academy (10-15), hosts Holy Cross (10-23) and visits St. Francis Episcopal (10-30) to close out district play.
