Chandler advances to TAPPS state meet in three different events for the Eagles
Several Geneva School of Boerne athletes competed at last week’s TAPPS Region IV meet held in Seguin.
In the final team standings, the Geneva boys tied for 9th with Brazos Christian after they both scored 31 points and 24 of those points came from one athlete – Brady Chandler – after Chandler took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in three different events.
Chandler is the only Geneva athlete to make it to the TAPPS state track and field meet this year and made it in all three events.
The TAPPS state meet is set for this week in Waco over three days – Thursday through Saturday – and Chandler competes on all three days, with one event each day.
At regionals, Chandler won the pole vault after he cleared 13-6 for 10 points. Chandler went for a PR record and attempted to clear 15-3.
Chandler also came in second in the 100 dash with a time of 11.07 for 8 more points and the talented junior was third in the long jump with a leap of 20-7 for 6 more points.
Chandler’s time in the 100 set a new school record and his distance in the long jump is second best in school history.
Walter Teague finished 5th in the high jump after he cleared 5-8 to pick up 4 more points and also set a PR, while Griffin Miller placed 6th in the discus with a toss of 122-6 for 3 points.
Holy Cross ran away with the regional boys title after they scored 144 points.
The Geneva girls tallied 4 points to place 19th after Maebry Caulfield finished 5th in the triple jump with a distance of 32-0.50 points for all their points.
New Braunfels Christian won the 4A girls regional title with 95 points.
