CORPUS CHRISTI - Boerne Champion made it a clean sweep over Mission Sharyland after the Chargers took a wild one over the Rattlers to close out their series Friday at Cabaniss Field in Corpus Christi.

Champion had a big inning in the fourth and pushed in 5 runs to open up a 7-2 advantage after Aidan Smith smacked a 3-run homer in the inning, but Sharyland sliced into the lead with 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-6 going into the seventh.

In the final inning, the Chargers picked up some insurance and scored 3 runs with the big hit coming from starting pitcher AJ Grizzaffi who smashed a 2-RBI triple to make it 10-6. Grizzaffi later scored on a wild pitch and Champion took a 10-6 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

By then, projected Game 3 starter Pearce Kelly was in the game and while the Chargers gave up a run in the seventh thanks to an RBI triple to make it 10-7 with two outs, Kelly fanned the last batter to end it and advance Champion to the fourth round.
