Art & Wine Fest: A full sensory experience
CELEBRATING THE ARTS
We invite you to be a part of this exciting new chapter of Boerne Art Waddle. This year, the Hill Country Arts and Wine Festival brings the Hill Country community together for a reimagined celebration of art and wine.
Join us for Day Two of the festival, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on Boerne’s Main Plaza, on the Hill Country Mile, for a day full of creativity, family fun and local flavor.
The Main Plaza will be chock-full of artist booths; children’s crafts and interactive art activities; live music from local performers; open poetry readings; a community drumming circle, open to all to listen to or join in; and wine tastings.
This year’s featured entertainment includes the Boerne Jazz Band, Hill Country Poets and drums, and the River City Kings.
The Boerne Jazz Band is a musical group known for performing standard jazz classics and Big Band sounds of the 1940s. Members are affiliated with the long-standing Boerne Village Band and Boerne Concert Band.
Hill Country Poets recently celebrated its first anniversary of open mic nights and poetry readings. Its mission is to promote the creation and appreciation of poetry through various events, and featured readings at the Boerne Bookshop and Dripping Springs Library. Mic nights offer a space for poetry lovers to share their work, or to simply listen.
The River City Kings consists of two brothers and a little sister along with additional professional musicians who perform classic country, rock, oldies and the top 40 in country music. The River City Kings have performed the best in country music in the San Antonio for 30 years.
Among this year’s field of artists will be: Geri Pieper, Kristy McNelly and Melany Rigdon; the photography of Benjamin Roberts and Russel Smith; the fused glassworks of Tracy Murphy; the prints linoleum-cut prints of Victoria White; artists from the ever-popular Carriage House Gallery; and the Boerne ISD’s array of young talented teen artists.
The festival offers an excellent opportunity to buy an original treasure for your home.
This year’s featured artist is Hill Country’s own Thom Ricks. Ricks has been an artist-illustrator his entire adult life. Dedicated to the trade and curious as well, he has traveled the world over, sketching and painting along the way.
The art poster image is Ricks’ painting, “The Spirit of Boerne,” acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, the image is of Boerne’s Main Plaza, the downtown square and gazebo.
This year’s event is proudly sponsored by Renewal by Andersen, Bella Vida Forefront Living, WIN1WINALL LLC, and is supported by Events Off Main and Hill Country Council for the Arts.
