Theater’s Teen Troupe brings home awards
The Boerne Community Theatre Teen Troupe headed to Paris last week — Paris, Texas, that is, attending the annual Youth Drama Conference sponsored by Theatre Network of Texas. More than 300 teens from across the state attended the event filled with performances, workshops, awards and social events. Patricia Hausman, BCT youth programs director, was the festival commissioner, overseeing 11 productions by various theatre groups. BCT presented “Charleston!” — a ‘20s period piece with flappers and dapper gents. Cody Hausman directed the show. Several awards were earned including: Riley Martinez, Young Leaders Council, All-Star Cast, Improv All-Star, and the Gilmore Spirit Award; Ava Klein, Improv All-Star; Russell Dean, All-Star Cast; Iley Rodriguez, Young Leaders Council; Jonna Padvorac, Teacher’s Pet Award; and Esther Groot, Excellence in Fast Thinking as a Ziegfeld Girl.
