The Boerne ISD board of trustees took the stage at this year’s Texas Association of School Boards conference June 11-14 in San Antonio.
The conference brings together school boards from across the state to onboard newly elected trustees, learn from keynote speakers and share their experiences with others.
The board and members of the superintendent’s executive leadership team were invited to share their expertise on a variety of topics, including “Hope in Action: Building Support Networks for Crisis Response,” a session that featured Chief of Student Support Krista Pomeroy; as well as “Effective Legislative Advocacy,” featuring Trustees Rich Sena and Kristi Schmidt, Executive Director of Community Partnerships and BEF Yvette Reyna, and Executive Director of Communications Dr. Maggie Dominguez.
The most well-attended session they presented was “Ensure Smooth Superintendent Transitions: Be Candid and Collaborative.” Dr. Kristin Craft and Trustees Carlin Friar, Sena and Schmidt presented alongside Orin Moore, a senior consultant with TASB’s board development services.
“In Boerne, we are aware that our trustees are highly engaged and put students at the center of their decision- making,” Craft said. “It’s been amazing to see others in Texas recognize the power of candor, positive relationships and commitment to service.
“In my 18 months as superintendent, we have strengthened the relationship between our district leaders and the community, and we are excited to see how we can continue to grow in the coming school year and beyond,” she added.
