The Boerne Champion baseball program recently hosted its annual end-of-year ceremony on May 29, and several team awards were handed out at the event held at a local restaurant.
Jaedyn Yamaguchi and Aidan Smith were named Co-Offensive MVPs, while Sawyer Smith and AJ Grizzaffi were named Co-Defensive MVPs. Also for the Chargers, Pearce Kelly picked up the Attitude Award, Owen Kuhl received the Character Award, Sam Miller earned the Teammate Award and Garland Whitehead won the We Are Champion Effort Award.
The Chargers finished the 2025 season as co-district champs with New Braunfels at 12-4 in 26-5A.
Champion advanced four rounds deep into the playoffs and swept Cedar Park to open the postseason. Up next, they beat MacArthur in the second round after dropping the first game.
Champion then swept Mission Sharyland down in Corpus Christi before they were eliminated by Liberty Hill in two games in the fourth round. The Chargers played their final game of the season and graduated on the same day.
Champion was one win away from hitting 30 wins this year after they went 29-10 overall.
