The Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association recently announced its 5A all-state teams, and Boerne ISD had four athletes – two from Champion and two from Boerne High make the list.
Boerne High’s Brooks Perez was named 5A All-State Elite by the THSBCA and was selected to play in the 5A-6A All-State Game held June 15, in Round Rock at Dell Diamond.
Brooks, a senior, finished the year with a .519 batting average and had a .614 on base percentage. He knocked out 14 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, drove in 22 runs and scored 34 runs.
Another Boerne Greyhound, Dylan Perez, was named to the THSBCA First Team as an outfielder. The senior batted .405 and finished with a .505 on base percentage. Dylan hit 4 doubles, 5 triples, 4 home runs, drove in 27 runs and scored 28 runs.
Champion had two named all-state by the THSBCA after junior Jaedyn Yamaguchi was selected as a first-team designated hitter, while senior Aidan Smith was named a second-team first baseman.
Yamaguchi batted .396 and finished with an on base percentage of .481. The slugger tallied 44 hits, including 12 doubles, one triple and 3 home runs. He scored 20 runs and collected 41 RBI.
Smith ended his high school career with a .396 batting average and had a .516 on base percentage. He had 38 hits, including 5 doubles, 2 triples, a home run and 3 stolen bases. Smith scored 17 runs and picked up 38 RBI.
The multi-talented Smith also pitched for the Chargers and went 4-2 this year on the mound.
