Stand up for America, defend our democracy
Editor, I want to share with you my Americana experience that I so joyfully enjoyed on Saturday, June 14, here in our community of Boerne.
My daughter, Graciela, and I attended the political rally here in my hometown, where I have lived all my life and raised my family. I read that the attendance may have been in the neighborhood of 500 people. Thank you to all who came and voiced your valid concerns.
It was awesome to see so many turn out to declare their allegiance to this great country of ours, the United States of America. This is what makes our country so noble. It’s our constitutional right to assemble and protest when we see cruel events occurring in our country that we may not believe in.
When I worked in the Boerne ISD I used to tell my students that America was the greatest country in the world, second to none. Our democratic given rights would always be fundamental to our way of life.
For the good of our country we need not be afraid to respond when we perceive that our Constitution is under attack. When one of my students asked me, “What can we do for America,” my response was, “Stand up for America if she is ever in crisis.”
And she is in crisis today. I know that America has not always been a perfect country. Our nation’s history can attest to that, but throughout the decades, great people have stood up, picked up an American flag and marched forth for brotherhood, equality, religious freedom and so much more.
What a legacy we share. Today, we continue to let our voices be heard.
