Lemuel Mitchell is an actor, playwright and second-generation stonemason from the Texas Hill Country. He has a bachelor’s degree in literature from Schreiner University and studied children’s literature in the graduate program at Texas State University.

A veteran actor, Mitchell specializes in character acting and Shakespeare, having played the title parts in Hamlet, MacBeth and Pericles. He has written scripts for feature length and short film, as well as numerous short and full length playscripts. He lives in Kerrville with his wife and two sons.

Mitchell is soon to enjoy seeing a second production of his western drama, The Mountain King.

The play, set in 1876 in the wild Dakota Territory, tells the story of three men: Arkadius Clay, a drunken colorful character, is serving as a trail guide to greenhorn Joshua Weaver, as they search for Buck Brewster, the Mountain King.

The play received its world premiere at the Overtime Theatre in San Antonio in 2023. Popular BCT actor Martin Vidal was Arkadius in that production. For the Boerne show, Vidal is The Mountain King. Davis Hayes is Joshua and Steve Harris plays Arkadius Clay. Jeffery Hensel directs.

Mitchell’s website has a lengthy note on the Mountain King and its background which is fascinating: https:// lemuelmitchell.wixsite.com/ lemuelmitchell The Mountain King opens July 11 and will run weekends through July 20. Tickets are on sale at boernetheatre. org/tickets or by calling the box office at 830-249-9166.
