COMFORT — Over the past two weeks, communities across Kerr and Kendall counties, and the nation, have come together in the wake of historic flooding that has devastated homes, ranches, and businesses throughout the region.
While Kerr County endured the most severe loss of life and property, significant damage has also struck the Comfort area, particularly along the Guadalupe River.
As an unincorporated community, Comfort relies on the strength of its local nonprofits, churches, volunteers and civic organizations rather than traditional city infrastructure. In response, the Comfort Area Foundation, the Greater Comfort and Boerne Chambers of Commerce have launched a coordinated relief effort to provide critical support to those most affected.
Here are several ways you can help: 1. Donate to the Comfort Area Flood Relief Fund. The Comfort Area Foundation, a registered 501( c)( 3), has established the Comfort Area Flood Relief Fund to directly support families, ranchers, and businesses in flood-impacted areas of Kendall County.
Ways to donate:
• In person: Drop off checks at any Texas branch of Broadway Bank, Frost Bank, or Wells Fargo. Make checks payable to Comfort Area Foundation Flood Relief.
• By Mail: Comfort Area Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 1182, Comfort, TX 78013.
• Online: Visit: comfortfloodrelief.
com to make a secure electronic donation. 2. Volunteer for upcoming clean-up and recovery efforts. As official recovery operations continue, volunteers will soon be needed for the next phase — property cleanup and community restoration.
Teams will be organized based on skill sets, including chainsaw and tree removal teams, heavy debris removal crews, and light trash and general clean-up groups.
• Important: Due to active search and recovery operations and unsafe ground conditions, our organized on-site volunteering will be scheduled as soon as state, local and federal resources complete their operations.
However, you can pre-register to be contacted when volunteer opportunities are available:

• kerrtogether.com.
3. Support local businesses in Comfort this weekend.
Even businesses untouched by the flood have been impacted economically — many rely on July’s holiday weekend to carry them through the quieter summer months.
You can make a difference by visiting Comfort: Shop, dine, listen to live music, explore antique shops and enjoy a weekend getaway. Your support means more now than ever.
Together, we can help Comfort rebuild.
