THE BOOKWORM
OKWORM
What a wonderful whirlwind of a summer it’s been at the library. We laughed, learned and made so many special memories together — and now it’s time to celebrate all the fun we had. Here is a wrap-up of all the highlights!
Bubbletime Bookworms kicked off our summer with a whole lot of wiggles, giggles and baby babbles. This sweet storytime for our tiniest readers brought in some fabulous little ones — and their grown-ups, too — with classes topping out around 80 parents and babies.
It was pure joy watching connections formed through stories, songs, playtime and bubbles.
Colorful Critters stole the show week after week. Happy Tails Mobile Petting Zoo rolled in each week with a new animal friend to meet.
With nearly 200 kiddos joining us each week, there was no shortage of “awws” and “wows.” From giant pythons to miniature ponies, our littles couldn’t get enough of their up-close animal encounters.
PeeWee Pinspirations made its debut this summer, and what a creative hit it was. This family-friendly craft program had kids painting adorable terracotta pots and diving into a whirl of colors with bubble tiedye tote bags. The messes may have been big, but the smiles were bigger.
Meanwhile, our Summer Reading Challenge brought out the bookworm in everyone. Hundreds of young readers joined in, reading their hearts out for a chance to win prizes from our treasure display.
We had seven lucky grand prize winners who came in to pick out their well-earned rewards. Way to go, readers!
“Eye Spy: Kermitt Edition” may just have been the biggest hit of all. We hid our mischievous little Kermitt the Frog all around the youth department and sharp-eyed searchers were rewarded with prizes from our treasure chest. We gave out hundreds of prizes to our clever little detectives.
As we wave goodbye to summer, we hope everyone had a blast exploring, creating and imagining with us. Thank you for filling the library with color, curiosity and joy.
Sleeper month: August at a glance
August is our “sleeper month,” a quiet time when we hit pause on regular programs so we can plan and prep for an amazing new school year of events.
But don’t be a stranger: Stop by, say hi and grab a new favorite book while you’re here. Our fall programming kicks off again in September and we can’t wait to share what’s next.

Family Place Workshop: A special August experience This August, we’re excited to offer our Family Place Parent-Child Workshop, a one-of-a-kind opportunity for families with children ages 1 to 3.
Every Friday morning from 10–11 a.m. starting August 1, we’ll transform the Youth Department’s activity room into a playful, welcoming space where little ones can explore a variety of engaging stations and hands-on art activities.
Each week, we’ll also feature a visiting child development specialist — from nutritionists to speech therapists — who will be available to chat and answer questions. We’ll close each session with a short, sweet storytime to wind things down.
This warm and informal program is all about playing, learning and growing together. We’d love to have you join us on this journey.
