SAN ANTONIO – Both the Boerne Champion water polo teams were entered in the Alamo Heights Kick Off water polo tournament held Thursday.

It was a one-day tourney in S.A., and the Champion varsity teams played three matches each and finished with a combined record of 5-1.

The Charger boys posted a 3-0 mark to start the year undefeated.

Champion opened by holding off Taft by a goal, 20-19. Later in the day, the Chargers defeated O’Connor, 17-11, and then closed it out with a 17-12 victory over host Alamo Heights.

The Lady Chargers finished 2-1 at the tourney and won their first two matches. Champion opened by topping Taft, 14-10, and then beating Brennan, 11-7.

In its final match of the day, the Lady Chargers were clubbed by Clark, 13-4.

Champion is off until next weekend when they play in the Waterpolopalooza event at the NISD Aquatics Center.

Champion’s Cora Skoog (15) looks to make a pass to an open teammate during tournament play at Alamo Heights Thursday to open the 2025 season in a match against Brennan.
