Tennis teams from Boerne ISD – Champion and Boerne High – began regular-season play this week.

Champion hosted Friendswood Wednesday afternoon to kick off the 2025 season, while the Mustangs stayed in town and visited Boerne High on Thursday morning.

There were mixed results after the Chargers fell to Friendswood, 9-10, to start the year at 0-1.

Champion was up 4-3 after doubles and the match was tied 5-5 at one point, before the Mustangs won it.

The Greyhounds flipped the score and weren’t so friendly to Friendswood and tamed the Mustangs, 10-9 to start 1-0.

BHS won all of its boys doubles matches and also claimed the mixed doubles match for the 4-3 lead and closed it out from there.

Both the Greyhounds and Chargers were entered in the Northside ISD Tournament this week that started Friday and continues through Saturday.

The teams were on opposite sides of the bracket and could meet at the tournament.
