The tennis teams from Boerne ISD were entered in the Northside ISD Gold Tournament last weekend in San Antonio and both squads finished in the top three.
Boerne High placed second at the event and Boerne Champion was one spot back in third.
The Boerne ISD teams are scheduled to continue action this week as they open 26-5A play.
Boerne High
The Greyhounds won their first two matches to advance to the championship round.
BHS opened up with a 10-5 win over Clark and then defeated Laredo Alexander by the same score, 10-5.
The win against Alexander sent Boerne to the finals where they faced S.A. Reagan and lost 11-1 to finish in second place.
BHS was scheduled to open league play Tuesday with a match against Wagner, but the Thunderbirds didn’t have enough players for a full team and had to forfeit the match.
Tuesday’s forfeit win still counts as a win for the Greyhounds and improves them to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district.
Boerne Champion
The Chargers opened the tourney with a 10-4 win over O’Connor to put them up against the eventual tournament champion Reagan in the next round.
The Rattlers are strong this year and claimed a 10-0 win over Champion.
Friday’s loss put the Chargers up against Laredo Alexander in the third-place match and Champion won, 10-7. The Chargers are 2-2 this year and opened district action Tuesday at home against Veterans Memorial.
