Lady Hounds finish off Falcons in three sets

Boerne High was home for its season opener Tuesday as the Lady Greyhounds volleyball team hosted Stevens.

It was a clean sweep for the Boerne girls to start 2025 as they finished off the Falcons in three sets, 25-19, 27-25, 25-21.

BHS is 1-0 and entered in the NISD/NEISD tournament this weekend. The Lady Greyhounds opened Friday with pool play at O’Connor against the Lady Panthers, Laredo United and San Antonio Christian.

Greyhounds coach Staci Lawrence said it was great to start the year with a win before the home crowd.

“The environment in the gym was great for our home opener,” she said. “The team came out ready to showcase the hard work we put in this off-season and did just that.”

Even with a sweep, Lawrence said there’s still a lot to work on.

“There are always area to improve but I thought our offense clicked well and I liked our ability to bounce back when down in a set,” she said. “It’s still early on in the season, but I think we can continue to improve on our consistency at the service line and our presence at the net.”

Bella Pettet served it well and finished with 6 aces, while Haley Wheeler and Lauren Magnus both dropped in 2 aces.

Holly Reeder led the team in kills with 11, while Ava Seamans was also in double-digit kills with 10 and Pettet had 7 kills.

Magnus tallied 35 assists, 8 digs and 2 blocks, Wheeler came up with a team-high 14 digs, Kiley Coffland added 9 digs and Paige Stegall chipped in with 2 blocks.
