SAN ANTONIO – Boerne High was entered in the Northside/Northeast volleyball tournament last weekend and had a strong showing.
After pool play, the Lady Greyhounds moved into bracket played where they finished second in the silver bracket.
While no Boerne players were named to the all-tournament team, Greyhounds coach Staci Lawrence said Haley Wheeler, Lauren Magnus and Ava Seamans stood out over the weekend.
BHS went 3-3 at the tourney and is 4-3 overall. The Lady Greyhounds opened district play Tuesday at New Braunfels. They’ll play in the SAISD tourney this weekend.
Boerne began the tournament with pool play at O’Connor on Friday where they went 2-1. They lost to the host Panthers in three sets, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18.
BHS dropped its next match to Laredo United, 25-19, 25-15, before closing it out with a sweep over San Antonio Christian, 25-20. 25-19.
The top two teams in pool play advanced to the gold bracket, while Boerne was third in their pool and went to the silver bracket.
In bracket play, the Lady Hounds won their first two matches over Medina Valley and Warren for three wins in a row, counting their victory over SACS.
BHS defeated Medina Valley, 25-23, 25-12, and then took care of Warren in three sets, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20.
That moved BHS to the championship match in the silver bracket where they faced Clark and lost in two sets, 25-19, 25-19.
