Comfort High continued its hot start to the 2025 season after they played in the Hondo tournament and posted a 5-1 record.
The Deer made it to the finals of the tourney and lost in the championship match to John Paul II to earn second place.
Comfort is 6-1 overall and finally played at home Tuesday when they hosted Center Point and Bandera in a tri-match.
In Hondo, the Deer won all three matches on the first day of the tourney. The Deer defeated Karnes City, 25-21, 25-15, swept Stacey, 25-19, 25-19 and then beat Bandera in three sets, 25-22, 19-25, 16-14.
In bracket play, Comfort swept Marion and Uvalde to advance to the championship match against the Guardians from JP II.
In the title tilt, John Paul II defeated the Deer in three sets, 25- 22, 21-25, 16-14.
