Charger, Greyhound tennis teams in action

The Boerne ISD tennis teams hosted district matches last Wednesday on their home courts and both the Greyhounds and Chargers picked up victories.

The matches were originally scheduled for Tuesday but were pushed back a day because of the rain that fell on the area that afternoon.

The Greyhounds were home and defeated Kerrville Tivy 17-2 to pick up another district win.

BHS took a break from 26-5A action last Friday and hosted O’Connor at the Boerne courts and won that one as well by the same score of 17-2.

Boerne is 6-1 overall and 2-0 in district. The Hounds were at Veterans Memorial Tuesday as they continued district play.

The Chargers almost shut out Smithson Valley in last week’s district match and only dropped one match to the Rangers before winning it 10-1.

Christian Okey notched the 10th win to end the match and send the Rangers home.

Champion played two more non-district matches last weekend and split the two. The Chargers dropped Dripping Springs on Friday at home, 17-2, and then lost Saturday at Lake Travis, 12-7.

Champion is 5-3 overall and 2-0 in district. The Chargers resume district play Sept. 3 at Alamo Heights.
