Lady Greyhounds win SAISD tourney for second straight year

For the second straight year, the Boerne High volleyball team took first place at the SAISD tournament held last weekend in San Antonio.

BHS posted a 6-0 mark at the event to take first place and had three players – Holly Reeder, Lauren Magnus and Haley Wheeler – named to the all-tournament team.

The Lady Greyhounds are 10-4 overall and resumed district play Tuesday at Wagner and then play in the Hill Country Invitational this weekend.

Boerne is 0-1 in 26-5A after dropping their district opener at New Braunfels last Tuesday.

At the tournament, the Lady Hounds opened with pool play and defeated Lanier, John Paul II and Del Rio.

BHS beat Lanier in three, 25-17, 27-29, 25-11, and then swept Schertz John Paul II in a couple of close games, 25-23, 28-26.

From there, the Lady Greyhounds closed out pool play with a victory over Del Rio, 25-14, 23-25, 25-20.

Boerne returned to the tournament on Saturday and swept Southside, 25-16, 25-15.

The Lady Hounds faced McCollum next and tamed the Cowboys in three after dropping the first game. McCollum took Game 1, 27-25, but Boerne rallied to win the next two, 25-18, 25-22.

BHS closed it out by facing John Paul II in their last match and this time they swept the Guardians, 25-14, 25-15 for first place.
