Charger girls are 3rd, boys finish 4th at Westlake XC meet

The Boerne Champion cross country teams continued their 2025 seasons last weekend by running in the Westlake Chaparral XC Invitational.

Champion’s varsity squads both finished in the top four at the event.

The Chargers were back on the course Saturday morning and ran at a meet hosted by the new high school in New Braunfels, Long Creek.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Chargers tallied 139 points for 3rd behind Smithson Valley (71) and Austin Bowie (112) in the field of 225 runners and 28 complete teams.

Rebecca Bezerra paced the Chargers after she was 11th in 18:59, Emma Radtke placed 21st with a 19:42, Luciana Zazueta Ibarra finished in 20:03 for 28th, Addison Graham clocked in at 20:19 for 30th, Abigail Alger turned in a 20:53 for 49th and Payton Kidder rounded out the team with a time of 21:50 for 88th place.

Varsity Boys

The Champion boys were 4th with 153 points in the field of 33 full teams and 267 runners.

Lake Travis won the race (54), Austin Bowie (116) was 2nd and C.C. Veterans Memorial (144) took 3rd.

Shawn Edward paced the Chargers with a time of 16:16 that was good for 12th place, Sebastian Carvallo came in 15th at 16:21, Mason Nelson finished in 16:32 for 24th, Adan Valdez posted a 17:00 for 50th and Noah Moreno completed the course in 17:02 and was two spots back in 52nd.

Brandon Martinez clocked in at 17:05 for 54th and Abhiram Bhogireddy placed 63rd in 17:15. Pierce Mitchell (17:47), Hector Canales (18:02) and Riley Cooksey (19:04) rounded out the team.
