The Comfort High football team looked impressive in its season opener Friday at Bobcat Stadium as they rolled past Brackett, 43-19.
Comfort (1-0) looks to build on that win this Friday when the Bobcats hit the road to take on the Dilley Wolves.
Brackett actually had the first score of the game when the Tigers took an early 7-0 lead, but the Bobcats answered with 36 straight points to open up a 36-7 advantage by late in the third quarter.
It was 8-7 at the end of the first but the Bobcats managed a 22-7 lead by halftime. CHS added two third-quarter scores and pretty much put the game out of reach at 36-7.
The Tigers tallied two late touchdowns to make the final score look closer than it actually was.
For the Bobcats, Jovani Zapata tallied 116 rushing yards and a touchdown on only three carries, Hunter Ledlow record 71 rushing yards and a TD on 8 totes and Carter Pape added 62 rushing yards on 11 carries and also scored once.
Jared Valadez finished with 35 ground yards and a score, while Gabe Gonzales rushed twice for 17 yards and a touchdown as five different Bobcats recorded rushing TDs.
Omar Rivera completed three passes for 70 yards and one touchdown to Gonzales, who finished with 35 receiving yards.
