Lady Chargers finish third at Seguin volleyball tournament

Boerne Champion closed out the tournament portion of its volleyball season by placing third at the Seguin Tournament last weekend.

The Lady Chargers won their first seven matches at the event before suffering a loss. The Lady Chargers went 7-1 at the tournament and fell in the semifinals to finish third.

Senior Taylor Fenton was named to the all-tournament team, according to coach Kelly McDaniel.

After playing every match on the road so far this season, Champion was finally home Tuesday to resume district play when they hosted Smithson Valley. They are 2-0 in 26-5A action.

At the tourney, the Lady Chargers defeated South San, 25-13, 25-22, topped TMI – Episcopal, 25-19, 25-21 and Canyon Lake on the first day, 27-25, 25-22.

On the second day, Champion swept Stevens, 25-15, 25-11, defeated TMI – Episcopal again, 25-19, 25-8, and then beat San Antonio Christian, 25-20, 25-20.

The Lady Chargers returned on the final day and sacked SACS again, 25-19, 25-8. The win against the Lady Lions put Champion in the semifinals where they lost to Wimberley, 25-15, 25-21.
