Boerne High ran at the Patriot XC Invitational held last Saturday at Retama Park.
The Patriot meet is a big meet and draws a lot of teams, but the Greyhound varsity squads held their own and both placed in the top five after the boys were second and the girls finished fifth.
BHS is off this weekend and runs in the Lovejoy Meet on Sept. 13.
Varsity Boys
The Boerne boys were second with 108 points, behind Clemens, which won the race with 64 points, while Reagan (112) came in third in the field of 17 teams.
Aaron Garcia paced the team after he was eighth with a 16:25, while Brayden Scott also posted a top 10 finish after he came in 10th in the adjusted scoring with a time of 16:34.
Barrett Crofut was 17th in 17:08, Carsten Bain came in 28th in 17:34, Wiley Davis completed the course in 18:01 for 45th, Chase Machicek completed the course in 18:16 for 57th and Jacen Esparza turned in a 19:06 for 91st.
Levi Mendoza (20:06) and William Olivo (20:24) also raced the Hounds in the field of 213 runners.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Hounds were fifth with 124 points at last Saturday’s meet.
South Texas Heat (53) won the race, Reagan (73) was second and Churchill (90) came in third in the field of 12 complete teams.
Presley Merkins paced the Lady Hounds after she was 14th in 20:07, while Penelope Kirk, Sutton Ammerman and Kelsey Farar went 25-26-27 with times of 20:52, 20:54 and 20:57 and Ansley Schiller posted a 21:27 for 32nd place to round out Boerne’s top five.
Abigail Jendrusch was 50th in a time of 22:36 and Sophia Karageorge clocked in at 20:50 for 55th.
Ainsley Purcell (23:06), Keira Sawyer (23:09) and Sophia King (23:47) also ran for Boerne.
