It’s been a fast-paced start to the season for Crestmont Christian’s volleyball team. As a second-year high school program, the Warriors are looking to build on last year’s successes with head coach Barbie Parkinson returning, joined by assistant coaches Olivia Williamson and Val Brackett.
Crestmont opened the season with games against Great Hearts Invictus, Boerne Area Christian Homeschool and the New Braunfels Thunder, coming up short in all three matches.
The Warriors turned around to play in the SA Saints tournament on Aug. 23. Their team play led them to a 3-1 record at the tournament, defeating BACH 2-0, Austin Royals 2-0 and Great Hearts Northern Oaks 2-0. The lone loss was to Geneva’s JV.
Crestmont finished 3rd in the JV division for their best finish at that tournament.
Crestmont hosted Gloria Deo on Aug. 29, defeating the Lions 25-16 and 25-16 before a short turnaround at the Living Rock Academy Tournament the next day. There the Warriors went 1-2, with losses to Living Rock Academy and Our Lady of the Hills. Crestmont defeated Valor San Antonio in their final game.
The Warriors stand at 5-6 against improving competition from a year ago.
Crestmont Christian played Texas Serve Cyclones from San Marcos on Sept. 2 and McCauley Christian in San Antonio on Sept. 5.

Crestmont Cross Country
Crestmont Christian Prep sophomore Peyton Blyth started his defense of his 2024 TAIAO cross country state title on Aug. 30 at the 23rd Annual S.A. Patriots Cross Country Invitational. It was a hot and humid morning at the Retama horse racing track with more than 1,000 total runners registered to run in eight divisions.
In a crowded field, Blyth found himself caught up in the middle of the pack at the starting gun. Despite the pushing and shoving of the other runners, Blyth was able to accelerate to a first mile pace of 5:19 to power towards the front of the pack.
Finishing with a final 5K time of 16:29.1, Blythe finished 13th overall out of 213 varsity runners, only 1:09 behind the winner.
Blyth and the rest of the Warrior runners are headed to the 4th Annual Steve Golemon Cross Country Invitational in Bandera on Sept. 6.
