The Boerne Champion softball team took a break from 26-5A action and hosted Madison in a non-district match last Friday.
Champion swept the Lady Mavericks, 25-14, 25-14, 25-16. They are 18-2 overall and resumed district play Tuesday at Alamo Heights.
The Chargers host Boerne High Friday at Charger Gym. The match is moved up to 5 p.m. because it’s homecoming for the Greyhounds.
In last Friday’s match, Taylor Fenton led the team with 10 kills, Brielle Boothe added 9 kills, Finley Weikle had 7 kills and Cassidy Breuer came up with 6 kills.
Brady Cooksey served up 5 aces, Weikle had 3 blocks, while Fenton and Breuer both totaled 2 blocks.
Boothe tallied 15 digs and Sofia Fuentes had 11 digs and Cooksey came up with 26 assists.
