BOERNE — Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries will once again participate in The Big Give, the annual 24-hour giving event beginning Sept. 17 that is dedicated to strengthening communities across South Central Texas.

From 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 18), Boerne Star readers, HCDBM supporters and members of the community are invited to support our organization and help transform the lives of local families facing hardship.

This has been a season of both steadfast missions and extraordinary service at HCDBM. Our neighbors are still reeling from the devastating July 4 floods. Entire households lost vehicles, food, clothing and even their homes.

HCDBM immediately stepped in as a regional disaster relief hub, receiving and distributing thousands of pounds of food, water, clothing and cleaning supplies to families who had nowhere else to turn.

This disaster provided an opportunity for HCDBM to step up, continuing to focus on our mission while realizing that God had prepared us with the resources, partnerships and infrastructure ... “for such a time as this.”

“We are so grateful for all of the ways you have helped our most vulnerable neighbors work towards a better life and you have given them opportunities to experience Christ’s love,” said Agnes Hubbard, HCDBM co-founder and executive director. “This is why we participate in The Big Give, so together we can continue to respond in times of crisis and help families rebuild their lives.”

This year, your support during The Big Give will provide vital services and will transform the lives of families, children and the elderly in our Hill Country community. When you give during The Big Give, your donation will go even further.

Thanks to generous matching donors, every dollar given to HCDBM will be doubled or tripled to provide food, clothing, diapers, mentoring and case management for struggling families.

In 2024, more than 82,000 people, in eight counties were reached through the ministry’s Community Resource Program, which provides local non-profits with their no-fee foodbank, clothing, diapers and other essential hygiene products.

Beyond distributing food and basic resources to meet the most essential of needs, thousands are served through HCDBM’s Family Mentoring Program. Mentors are matched through local churches to walk alongside families who need help and are supported by case managers.

Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries was founded in 2000 as a calling upon David and Agnes Hubbard that began in a borrowed garage. HCDBM is a Christian-based ministry; its core programs are the Family Mentoring Resource Program, Stand By Me Mentoring Program for at-risk students and Community Resource Program, designed to supply free food and health supplies to local non-profit organizations.

Join us as we transform lives and give hope — by “Giving Big.” When you give, you provide more than food or clothing; you offer hope, healing and a future for families in crisis.
