Best-selling children’s author, artist booked for Book Festival

THE BOOKWORM

We’re so excited to feature children’s book author and artist Kazu Kibuishi at the Boerne Book Festival Saturday, Oct. 4, on the Patrick Heath Public Library grounds.

In case you’re not familiar with the author, he’s the creator of the No. 1 New York Times bestselling “Amulet” series.

Kibuishi is also the creator of Copper, a collection of his popular webcomic, as well as the illustrator of the covers of the 15th anniversary paperback editions of the Harry Potter series.

Kids will be able to listen to Kibuishi talk about his Amulet series at 2:30 p.m., at the Book Festival. We’ll be selling his books at our onsite bookstore, and he’ll be signing right after his program.

A percentage from the sale of his books will go to the Boerne Public Library Foundation. Thanks to Scholastic Publishing for coordinating this bestselling author’s appearance for us.

Also, thanks to generous sponsorships from Frost Bank and H-E-B, we will be getting copies of the first book in the Amulet series into the hands of third through fifth grade students at both Curington and Fabra elementary schools.

There will be many other children’s book authors on hand at the Book Festival this year, in the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators tent.

Jessica Knight, the regional advisor for the Southwest chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators will be on hand with her delightful new picture book “Cinderbella: A Fairy Tale Starring the Real Alamo Cat.” The SCBWI authors will also be reading from their works on the Amphitheater stage throughout the day.

Bestselling children’s book author Kazu Kibuishi will talk about his writing and illustrating experiences, including his “Amulet” series, at the Oct. 4 Boerne Book Festival. Courtesy photos
