Bobcats roll to big win on homecoming night

The upstart Comfort High football team hosted Johnson City on Friday and remained perfect this season after the Bobcats defeated the Eagles 49-35 on homecoming night.

Comfort is 4-0 overall and hosts Llano on Friday, kick-off at 7 p.m.

The Bobcats took control right away and went up 21-0 by early in the second quarter.

Carter Pape ran in from 10 yards out late in the opening stanza for a 7-0 lead.

The Bobcats went with an onside kick and recovered and scored a few plays later after Jared Valadez scrambled in from the 19-yard line and it was 14-0.

Comfort added to its lead after Damian Neri caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Omar Rivera to make it 21-0 after the made extra point with 11:01 before halftime.

Hunter Ledlow tacked on one more score from 4 yards out to give the Bobcats 28 points by halftime.

Johnson City tallied two touchdowns in the first half, one on a pass play and the other on a short run and it was 28-14 in favor of Comfort at halftime.

The teams traded touchdowns in the second half as the Bobcats put the game away. Both the Bobcats and Eagles scored 3 TDs each.

Ledlow added another rushing score, Valadez also scored again on a short run and Gabe Gonzales iced the game after he returned an interception 58 yards for a Pick 6 to give the Bobcats 49 points.

The Eagles hit two passing touchdowns in the second half and also added a running TD to account for their three second- half points.

Ledlow had another strong rushing night and tallied 135 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns. Pape added 114 rushing yards on 17 totes and scored, while Valadez carried the pigskin five times for 25 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bobcats rolled to 363 rushing yards on 59 carries and 5 TDs.

Neri only had one catch for 22 yards, but it went for a touchdown, while Rivera completed 4 of 8 passes for 38 yards and a TD.
