Boerne High snapped Alamo Heights' district win streak on Friday, handing the Mules their first loss in league play since 2019.

The Greyhounds won 37-35 and pulled out all the stops to get the win and start district play at 1-0. BHS is 4-1 overall and has won four straight. They are off this coming Friday and continue 13-5A DII action at Harlandale Oct. 10.

Boerne hit a Hail Mary pass at the halftime buzzer and also used a trick play on a wide-receiver option play and it all worked.

The Greyhounds defense also came up with three interceptions in the game, two in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Mules running back D.K. Garza had four touchdowns in the game and has surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark this season.

*Champion 57, Seguin 50

The Chargers were in a shootout at Matadors Stadium in Seguin and pulled out the 57-50.

Champion was up by 22 points, but Seguin cut it to seven points. After the last Matadors touchdown, the Chargers recovered an onside kick with 33 seconds to seal the victory.

The Chargers are 3-2 overall and 1-1 in district. They are off this Friday and host New Braunfels on Oct. 10.

*Geneva 49, Schertz John Paul II 6

The Eagles soared to a 49-6 win over Schertz John Paul II Friday on the road to open district play.

Geneva is 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district. The Eagles continue league action Friday at home against Holy Cross.

*Llano 40, Comfort 0

Comfort couldn't get its offense on track Friday and was shut out at home by Llano, 40-0.

It's Comfort's first loss of the season and leaves them at 4-1 this year.

The Bobcats still have one more non-district game left on the schedule. They visit Bandera Friday and are off on Oct. 10.

Comfort opens district play on Oct. 17 against Rogers.
