Greyhound cross country teams race in Round Rock

The Boerne High cross-country teams were in Round Rock at the McNeil XC Invite at Old Settler’s Park last Saturday and the boys ran in the Gold race, while the Lady Chargers competed in the Silver race and finished second with a young team.

BHS races at the Matador Invitational this Saturday hosted by Seguin at Starcke Park.

Boerne’s district meet is Oct. 8 in Kerrville.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Chargers competed in the Silver race where they placed second with 213 points.

Lucas Lovejoy (142) won the race and Austin Anderson (255) took third in the field of 30 teams.

Boerne raced three freshman and two sophomores on Saturday and was led by freshman Presley Merkens, who was fifth with a time of 19:42.

Sutton Amerman, another freshman, was 29th in 20:51, sophomore Kelsey Farar placed 33rd in 20:53, freshman Ansley Schiller finished 55th in a time of 21:33, Sophia King, the only senior in the group, was 91st in 22:00 and sophomore Abigial Jendrusch rounded out the team after she was 122nd by clocking in at 22:34 in the field of 199 runners.

Penelope Kirk also ran for the Lady Hounds but didn’t finish the race.

Varsity Boys

The BHS boys were 24th in the field of 29 teams with 555 points in the Gold race.

Brayden Scott paced the Greyhounds and was 63rd in a time of 16:40, Aaron Garcia finished 78th in 16:50, Carsten Bain was 102nd after he clocked in at 17:06, Barrett Crofut placed 140th in 17:32 and Chase MacHicek ran an 18:13 for 172nd.

Wiley Davis completed the course in 18:35 for 183rd and Jacen Esparza posted a 19:15 for 199th in the field of 233 individual runners.

Round Rock (143) won the race, La Feria (184) took second and Clemens (205) was third.
