BHS, Champion tennis teams getting ready for playoffs

The Boerne ISD tennis teams continued district play this week and both were on the road Tuesday and picked up wins.

Also, the Greyhounds and Chargers played non-district matches last weekend as they continue to prepare for the stretch run of their seasons and the playoffs.

Each team only has one district match left with the Chargers hosting Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday, while the Greyhounds are at New Braunfels on Tuesday, with both matches scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

The squads will also pick up non-district matches before the playoffs start and Champion hosted Antonian this week, while BHS tangles with Fredericksburg next weekend.

Boerne High

The Greyhounds won their last two matches, one a district match and the other a non-district match.

Boerne defeated Pieper on Tuesday 10-0 to improve to 6-1 in district and is locked into the No. 2 seed behind Alamo Heights.

BHS also picked up a non-district victory over Antonian last Friday and stands at 11-2 overall.

Boerne Champion

The Chargers visited Wagner on Tuesday and won, 18-1 and stands at 5-2 in district.

Champion also played San Angelo Central last Saturday morning in Mason and lost 13-6 as 10 of the 19 matches went to the third set. The Chargers won four of those three-set matches.

Champion is 8-6 overall and locked into the No. 3 seed in the district behind Alamo Heights and Boerne High.
