The Boerne Champion volleyball team defeated Wagner Tuesday night on the road and put an end to its three-game slide in 26-5A in the process.
Champion grounded the Lady Thunderbirds, 25-10, 25-17, 25-20. The Lady Chargers closed out the first round of district with Tuesday’s win and are sitting in third place at 5-3.
Smithson Valley is also 5-3 but the Chargers beat them in the first round so they are in third and the Rangers are in fourth place. Champion is 20-5 overall and opened the second round of 26-5A action Friday at home against Kerrville Tivy. The Chargers will host Veterans Memorial Tuesday before visiting Smithson Valley this coming Friday in a key match.
