Comfort Deer still perfect in district after sweeping Llano

Just like in its first two district matches, the Comfort High volleyball team managed another sweep against a league opponent.

After sweeping Florence and Blanco, the Deer took care of Llano last Friday in three sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-21.

Comfort is 22-11 overall and off Tuesday. They’ll put their perfect 3-0 district mark on the line Friday when they host Ingram at 5 p.m. before the football game.

Friday’s contest with Ingram will be big because both the Deer and Lady Warriors are undefeated in the district heading into the match.

The Deer’s match with Llano was also moved up to 5 p.m. last Friday since Comfort and Llano were playing in football that night.

In last Friday’s contest, Tindall Ahrens had another big match and finished with 23 kills, while Faith Diaz de Villegas added 8 kills.

Anna Munoz, Rubi Lozano and Emily Hill all served up 2 aces, while Hill blocked 3 shots and Molly Gowan and Ahrens also had 2 blocks.

Ahrens came up with 12 digs and Lozano finished with 10 digs, while Corrine Brown tallied 34 assists.
