Lady Chargers kick off second round of 26-5A volleyball with sweep of Tivy

After going five games with the Kerrville Tivy volleyball team in the first round of district before earning the win, Boerne Champion took care of business at home last Friday in a more efficient manner against the Lady Antlers.

This time, the Lady Chargers beat the Lady Antlers in three sets, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21, to complete the season sweep over Tivy.

Champion is 21-5 overall and 6-3 in district. The Chargers start the week ranked No. 22 in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association poll released on Monday.

The Chargers hosted Veterans Memorial Tuesday and then travel to Smithson Valley Friday, both teams that also took the Chargers to five sets before Champion claimed the victory.

In last Friday’s match, Cassidy Breuer led the Chargers with 16 kills, Finley Weikle added 11 digs and Taylor Fenton had 8 kills.

Brielle Boothe dropped in 2 aces, Fenton and Brady Cooksey both tallied 5 blocks, while Sydney Hass came up with 4 blocks.

Cooksey recorded 11 digs, Breuer added 10 digs, while Weikle and Hannah Perez both finished with 9 digs. Cooksey also led the team in assists with 37.
