SAN ANTONIO – The Boerne Champion water polo teams picked up two more district wins last Saturday at the Northside Aquatics Center.
Champion also played several non-district matches as they prepare for the postseason, which starts next week. Both Chargers teams have made the playoffs.
The Chargers close out district action this Saturday against Clark and Boerne High, also at Northside. How the final weekend of district action goes will determine who and when the Chargers play to open the postseason.
In boys action last Saturday, Champion defeated Health Careers, 16-8, and then knocked off Brandeis, 16-9, to improve to 8-0 in district.
After those two matches, Champion played two more matches later that day at the Alamo Heights tournament and fell to St. Mark’s, 22-15, and lost to Foster, 22-14.
Also, this week, the Chargers played Austin Westlake in a non-district match and lost to the Chaps, 16-6, to stand at 18-8 overall.
It was a long day for the Lady Chargers as well after playing four matches last Saturday. In district action, Champion defeated Health Careers, 8-3, and also knocked off Brandeis, 10-6, to improve to 8-0 in district.
Later in the day, the Lady Chargers tied Foster, 11-11, and then defeated St. Agnes Academy, 17-15.
Also, Champion tangled with Westlake on Tuesday and won that match, 10-9, to stand at 21-5-1 overall.
