Champion races one last time before district meet scheduled for Tuesday

In its final meet before district, the Boerne Champion cross country teams raced at the Seguin Matador XC Invitational last Saturday at Starcke Park.

The Chargers return to Seguin Starcke Park for their district meet on Tuesday. Varsity girls race at 8:30 a.m., followed by the varsity boys at 9 a.m.

JV girls race at 9:30 a.m. and JV boys run at 10 a.m.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Chargers finished 3rd Saturday in Seguin with 95 points behind Steele (34) and St. Mary’s Hall (84).

Luciana Zazueta Ibarra paced Champion after she was sixth with a 19:51, Catherine Whitman posted a 21:03 for 18th, Ellis Conroy was 20th in 21:08, Abigail Alger clocked in at 21:17 for 25th and Anorah Cerean was one spot back with a 21:26 for 26th.

Tanner Fritts finished 21:36 for 29th and Sunaree Dutton came in with a 21:40 for 32nd, while Kenna Malmberg ran a 22:40 and Isabella Kruzel posted a 22:59.

Varsity Boys

Champion rested some of its runners and placed eighth in the field of 17 teams with 230 points.

Clemens (50), Sotomayor (76) and Central Catholic (101) went 1-2-3 in the team standings.

Sebastian Carvallo led the Charger boys after he was 19th in 16:38, Pierce Mitchell came in 32nd with a 17:01, Riley Cooksey finished in 17:35 for 129th, Brennan Williams clocked in at 17:49 for 60th and Hector Canales posted a 17:55 for 65th.

Aaron Duran completed the course in 18:01 for 70th, Christian Betz ran an 18:04 for 73rd, while Colin Gibbs turned in an 18:35 and Austin Ronemous rounded out the team with an 18:57.
