Greyhounds get in final tune up before district XC meet set for this Tuesday

In its final race before the upcoming district meet, the Greyhounds cross country teams competed at the Seguin Matador XC Invitational held at Starcke Park last Saturday.

Both varsity squads finished in fourth place.

The Greyhounds return to Seguin’s Starcke Park for their district meet on Tuesday. Varsity girls race at 8:30 a.m., followed by the varsity boys at 9 a.m. JV girls race at 9:30 a.m. and JV boys run at 10 a.m.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Hounds were fourth (124) behind Steele (34), St. Mary’s Hall (84) and Champion (95).

Kelsey Farar finished seventh after she ran a 19:56, Abigail Jendrusch placed 17th in a time of 20:49, Ansley Schiller posted a 21:39 for 31st, Sophia King clocked in at for 33rd for 21:42 and Ainsley Purcell rounded out the team with a time of 21:50 for 36th.

Varsity Boys

Boerne finished fourth with 103 points and was edged out for third by Central Catholic after the Buttons were three points better at 101. Clemens (50) won the meet and Sotomayor (76) was second.

Aaron Garcia paced the Hounds with a 15:48 for sixth, Barrett Crofut finished 11th with a 16:17, Brayden Scott clocked in at 16:40 for 20th, Carsten Bain posted a 17:04.1 for 33rd, while Wiley Davis was less than a second behind Bain at 17:04.8 to place 34th.

Chase MacHicek ran a 17:40 for 58th, while Julian Wasal completed the course in 17:59 for 67th and Jacen Esparza rounded out the team with an 18:03.
