After taking this Friday off, the Boerne Champion football team resumes 13-5A DI action on Friday and has five games left on the schedule.

The Chargers are 3-2 overall and 1-1 in district. They resume league play on Friday, Oct. 10, at BISD Stadium against New Braunfels. Champion’s final four games after playing the Unicorns include MacArthur, Victoria East, Wagner and Pieper.

Three of their remaining five games are at home but home-field advantage hasn’t helped the Chargers this year. They are 0-2 at BISD Stadium with losses to Smithson Valley and Laredo Alexander.

All three Charger wins so far this year were on the road at Laredo United South, Medina Valley and Seguin. Their win against Seguin was big because it kept them from slipping to 0-2 in district.

At 1-1 in 13-5A DI, the Chargers likely have to win three of their last five to have a chance at a playoff spot regardless if they are home or on the road.

After New Braunfels, the Chargers face MacAtrhur at Heroes Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 16. They follow that up by hosting Victoria East on Oct. 24, have a key home game against Wagner on Halloween night, Oct. 31, and then close out the regular season at Pieper on Nov. 7.
