Kendall County well represented at UIL state cross country meet

ROUND ROCK – Runners from Boerne Champion, Boerne High and Comfort ran at Friday’s state cross country meet at Old Settler’s Park. 

Both Charger boys and girls squads ran, while individual runners from Comfort High and Boerne High raced as well. 

While no medals were earned, both Champion squads did turn in top-10 finishes in the state in 5A. 

The Champion boys team finished seventh with 197 points, while the Lady Chargers placed 10th with 238 points. 

Brayden Scott represented the Greyhounds in the 5A event and came in 48th overall in the boys race, while Jackson Dear ran for Comfort in the 3A race and was 70th in Round Rock.

Boerne High football

The Boerne High football team captured its eighth straight victory after the Greyhounds defeated McCollum on Thursday, 42-0.

Six different Greyhounds scored in the game, including Ben Bays on defense with a Pick-6 TD.

BHS is 8-1 overall and 5-0 in district.

The Greyhounds close out the regular season next Friday at Kerrville.

Champion volleyball

The Lady Chargers opened the playoffs Thursday against Cedar Park at Buda Johnson.

The Timberwolves defeated Champion 27-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-17.

Geneva School of Boerne

The Geneva volleyball team defeated St. Thomas Episcopal near the Houston area Thursday to advance to the second round.

The Eagles won in three sets in the match hosted by St Thomas.
