Boerne Champion opened the 2025 volleyball playoffs last Thursday by facing Cedar Park in a rematch of last year’s postseason.
In 2024, Cedar Park defeated the Lady Chargers in three sets and advanced all the way to the state championship where they finished second in the state. Thursday’s match at Buda Johnson resulted in the Timberwolves winning, but Champion took a set off them. The Chargers had a chance to take an early 1-0 lead but dropped the first set, 27-25.
Cedar Park took the second set, 25-17, for the 2-0 lead, but the Chargers avoided the sweep and won the third set, 26-24, to force a fourth game.
From there, the Timberwolves closed it out with a 25-17 victory to end Champion’s year at 26-8.
The Chargers will graduate four seniors and they are Bella Perez, Taylor Fenton, Izze Fjord and Cassidy Breuer.
